MAN introduces engine for semi-submersible drilling platform

       It is reported that Mann Diesel and Turbo have launched their PA6 B offshore drilling platform generator. The aircraft is a new engine designed for offshore semi-submersible drilling platforms.

The PA6 B offshore drilling rig generator produces a four-stroke medium speed engine for the Mann Diesel and Turbine St. Nazaire plant in France. The St. Nazaire plant will be equipped with an alternator consisting of a new offshore generator with a separate PA6 B OG engine. A typical 8X16PA6 B OG engine will be installed on a semi-submersible rig as a mainframe and emergency power source. The PA6 B OG engine is a low noise and low vibration engine that is compact, lightweight and rugged. Because the machine covers a range of 4440-7400 kW, it is suitable for marine diesel-electric propulsion and power generation.

The PA6 B engine is shock resistant and can handle tilts up to 25° in any direction. It has the ability to handle transient load increases and long-term low load operation. At the same time, the use of its design and advanced OEM components helps to extend maintenance intervals.

       In addition, the PA6 B OG engine features fast start-up features: fast response to increased load; integrated cooling, lubrication and fuel systems; maximum reliability and low load fuel consumption optimization.
