At 1:30 a.m. on the 20th, under the footbridge of the No. 2 gate of the Shaoguan smelter in Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, a tanker truck loaded with 8 tons of gasoline collided with the footbridge pier, causing the vehicle to roll over and the tank leaking and exploding. And caught fire.
The Shaoguan City Minjiang Fire No.2 Squadron received an alarm and immediately dispatched a foam fire truck, a water tanker fire truck and a rescue vehicle to the scene. At 1:40, when the firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw that a tanker was surrounded by a fire and the sky was filled with fire. Along the road, there were still a lot of roaring fires. The air was filled with a pungent odor. Through the investigation, it was discovered that the tanker had exploded after the fire had rolled over and the driver had safely escaped. The fire brigade set up two foam guns to cover the tanker cars and outflow of gasoline, and immediately set off the cordon on the road to evacuate the crowds and vehicles. At the same time, they called the detachment command center to request reinforcements. The detachment headquarters immediately dispatched and mobilized the special service. The squadron and Qujiang Fire Squadron had a total of 5 vehicles and rushed to the scene.
By adopting the strategies of extinguishing open flames, cooling tanks, blocking fires, and preventing tank explosions, the fire was completely extinguished at 2:30. At this time, two water guns continued to cool the tanks to prevent re-ignition. After three hours of cooling, the remaining gasoline in the tank car was inverted after the temperature was completely lowered. The accident did not cause greater disasters and personal losses. The specific reasons are under investigation.
