Daqing Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd.'s Acrylamide Plant has made significant progress in energy saving and emission reduction by leveraging both management and technological strategies. The plant established an Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Working Group, developed a long-term plan for energy efficiency within the workshop, and created a specific 2008 action plan. These initiatives were integrated into the "Acrylamide Workshop Evaluation Rules" to ensure consistent implementation. In response to seasonal changes, the workshop transitioned from steam heating to plumbing systems and adjusted recycled water usage based on production needs. This flexible approach helped optimize resource consumption while maintaining operational efficiency. Daily production management was strengthened, with teams encouraged to minimize the use of fresh water, desalinated water, and steam. Performance metrics were tied to team accounting and bonuses, effectively motivating employees to contribute to energy-saving efforts. Additionally, the plant recognized and rewarded employee suggestions related to energy conservation and emission reduction, fostering a culture of sustainability. Several small-scale improvements were also implemented, such as reusing seal water instead of direct drainage and adding hot lines to fresh water pipelines to prevent wasteful discharge during winter. These measures resulted in an annual saving of 15,500 tons of fresh water and a monthly reduction of 200 tons of wastewater discharge. Through these combined efforts, the Acrylamide Plant has set a strong example for sustainable industrial practices.
