In 1989, Xiangtan Manganese Mine completed the production process of recovering slime with SHP-1000 magnetic separator (Figure 10).

The disc magnetic separator is a dry sorting method. In the past, it has been widely used in the separation of tungsten and tin . The manganese grade is over 60%, but the tailings grade is high and the production efficiency is low. It cannot be widely applied.
For the magnetic separation of fine-grained manganese ore, there are currently high-gradient magnetic separation, high-gradient magnetic separation and other exploration experiments, and the technical indicators are also good, but in view of the low price of manganese ore, economic problems cannot be solved, so it can only stay in the experimental stage. There have been no reports on the application of industrial production.
