The Long Grove Fire Protection District (FPD) and neighboring fire departments were called to a severe house fire at 21605 N. Tiffany Court in Kildeer just after 2:00 AM this morning. Witnesses reported heavy black smoke pouring from a large two-story home, prompting an immediate escalation of the alarm to a MABAS Box Alarm. Within minutes, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, with towering fire reaching over 60 feet into the sky.
The location, situated in a remote subdivision without access to fire hydrants, required a significant response. The alarm was escalated to a third alarm, along with additional fifth alarms for water tenders from Cook, Lake, McHenry, and Kenosha counties. Firefighters faced the challenge of supplying water through portable tanks and a coordinated effort of dozens of tenders shuttling water from two fill sites.
Engines from Lake Zurich and Lake Bluff were on scene, drafting water to supply a quint from Buffalo Grove, another from Barrington, and lines operated by Long Grove Squad 55. The incident involved multiple agencies working together under difficult conditions, showcasing the strength of regional cooperation during emergencies.
