On January 11, 2011, Michelin announced the launch of the “Map of the Michelin World Division of Destinations Series” for the Chinese market for the first time. A total of 9 Michelin maps were launched in the first batch, covering 13 European countries. The move will not only provide more professional and detailed travel information for Chinese tourists and drivers, but also indicates that the Michelin map business will accelerate the pace of entering the Chinese market, and will also convey the centuries-old essence of the Michelin map to China.

"100 years ago, Michelin published its first map. In the following century, with the continuous improvement and innovation, the development of the Michelin map business has gone through many historical moments," said Michelle Paul, global vice president of mapping business, Michelin. Paul Carril said: "In recent years, with the rapid increase in the number of outbound tourists from China, Michelin has launched a series of European maps at the appropriate time in the Chinese market to meet the growing demand of Chinese tourists. This is also the direction of the Michelin map business. A new milestone for the next 100 years."

The Michelin series maps published this time are in Chinese and original versions and published by Geological Publishing House. There are 9 maps in total: “Spain, Portugal, Andorra Tourist Map”, “Britain, Ireland Tourist Map”, “France Tourist Map”, “Italy Tourist Map”, “Germany Tourist Map”, “Dutch Tourist Map” , "Switzerland Tourist Map", "Belgium, Luxembourg Tourist Map" and "Austria Travel Map".

In addition to the map itself, the Michelin Atlas offers a wide range of additional products for tourists and drivers. Next to the national map, the index of the names of major cities and the travel time between destinations are listed so that tourists can quickly find the information they need. On the contrary side of the map, maps of the major cities of the country are printed with various Tourism routes, attractions, local holidays, and other practical information, tourists can make the best trip planning according to their own interests and time.

Li Tiegang, president of Geological Publishing Co., also stated, “We are very pleased to cooperate with Michelin, an international company with more than 100 years of map production and publishing history. Our co-published series of maps of the world’s national destinations will allow Chinese tourists to travel abroad. Travel is more convenient."

In recent years, the enthusiasm of Chinese tourists to travel to Europe has been rising. The release of the first “Map of Michelin World Division Destination Series” in China provides a full range of information for travelers to browse the city's footprints and taste cultural details. As a leader in the road map industry, since the publication of the first French road map in 1910, the Michelin map has always been adhering to convenient, practical, accurate, objective, and detailed professional characteristics, and has won a great reputation among consumers. Today, Michelin Maps sells more than 10 million copies worldwide every year, of which 5 million are sold in France and occupy 75% of the local market. There are currently four major Michelin road maps: national maps, regional maps, local maps, and maps of hot spots.
