Russian Presidential Assistant Sergei Prikhodko disclosed that Russia, Japan, and China will sign a chemical plant to produce ammonia, methanol and granular urea in Tatarstan during the APEC summit in Yokohama from November 13 to 14. The contract for retrofitting existing ammonium nitrate plants is expected to exceed US$1 billion in total contract prices.
On the eve of the Russian president’s attendance of the APEC summit, Prikhodko told reporters at the press conference: “It is expected that Russia and Japan will sign a large international contract.â€
According to him, the contract concerned the implementation of a project to construct a chemical plant in Mentyrevsk, Republic of Tatarstan.
Prikhodko pointed out: "It is expected that the contract will be signed between Russia's 'Ammonium' company and the international consortium consisting of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Japan), Sojitz Group (Japan) and China National Chemical Corporation (China)."
