**Box Alarm in Glen Ellyn, May 9, 2014**
Hey everyone, just got back from covering a box alarm here in Glen Ellyn. It happened around 503 Duane Street this afternoon. The fire department responded quickly, and it was a relatively contained incident. From what I could see, there was only one room affected on the third floor in the back of a three-story building. This place is a mixed-use structure—commercial spaces on the lower levels with apartments above. The size of the building is roughly 50 feet by 100 feet.
The firefighters did an excellent job getting the situation under control swiftly. They focused their efforts on one room where the fire had broken out, and thankfully, it didn’t spread much further. A civilian was taken to Loyola Hospital, but fortunately, no major injuries were reported. I managed to snap a few photos that capture some of the action. Here's a quick look at what the scene looked like:

**Working Fire in Bloomingdale, May 9, 2014**
And that wasn’t the only action today! Later in the day, I headed over to another fire incident in Bloomingdale. This one was also a three-story apartment building, about 50 feet by 75 feet. The fire originated in a water heater flue within a void space on the first floor and spread upward through the voids. Thankfully, the firefighters arrived in time to contain it before any significant damage occurred. It was a fast knockdown using just one line, and they managed to get the fire under control efficiently.
I was lucky enough to capture some additional images of the firefighters in action. Here’s a glimpse of what transpired:

It was a busy day for the local fire departments, but they handled both situations impressively. Looking forward to seeing how the investigations progress and hoping everything turns out okay for those involved.
