On November 13th in New York City, another kind of recognition took place—the second annual Tabby Awards. This unique event honors the best business and productivity tablet apps across major platforms such as iOS, Android, and Windows 8.
The Tabby Awards bring attention to apps that often go unnoticed but play crucial roles in our professional lives. For instance, AutoCAD 360, a free mobile application allowing users to view, create, edit, and share AutoCAD drawings from anywhere, walked away with an award in the "Best in-the-Field" category. AutoCAD 360 empowers users with essential tools for sketching and documentation, enabling them to annotate drawings on-site, capture as-built details, and share DWG files—all directly from their mobile devices. Changes made within the app are automatically saved to the cloud, eliminating the need for manual backups or transferring files between devices.
Judging this year's competition was no small task. An international panel of over 20 tablet app developers and mobile experts carefully reviewed more than 100 submissions from various countries. Milind Gadekar, co-founder and CEO of CloudOn (a top-performing app and previous Tabby Awards winner), led the esteemed judging committee. The panel praised AutoCAD 360, noting its seamless handling of complex concepts, impressive user interface, and versatile features that cater to designers’ needs. As one judge remarked, “Designers can finally interact with their projects instead of feeling disconnected.â€
