Here's more from Steve Redick:
Hank Sajovic shared the fire alarm office's extra alarm tab and box card related to the 5-11 Alarm at O'Hare Field on March 9, 1963. It seems like the companies that were scheduled for the 5-11 shift never actually went to work — look at the times listed. A friend who was on duty at 56 that day mentioned that all the 5-11 companies were held up, according to his recollection.Steve

This historical document offers a rare glimpse into the operations of the Chicago Fire Department during one of its most significant alarms in the early 1960s. The 5-11 Alarm refers to a specific type of emergency response, typically involving multiple units and a coordinated effort. The fact that the companies didn’t show up as expected raises questions about communication, timing, or perhaps even an internal delay. These old records are invaluable for understanding how things were done back then and help preserve the legacy of those who served.
