According to police, the driver of the black Volkswagen Jetta, a 34-year-old man from Des Plaines, was traveling westbound on Oakton Street near Prospect Street when the incident happened. Initial reports didn’t specify the speed at which the Jetta was traveling, but it was later discovered that the vehicle had somehow veered into the eastbound lanes just east of Prospect Street. The Jetta then collided with a white GMC SUV being driven by a 49-year-old woman from Morton Grove.
