This liquid is then contained in a pipe inside a concave solar reflector, which follows the sun's path throughout the day to maximize energy absorption.

Once heated, the liquid reaches its peak energy density and is stored at room temperature until needed. Chemist and chemical engineering professor Kasper Moth-Poulsen, who led the research, explained:

“This energy-rich molecule can retain its potential for up to 18 years. When we harness this energy, the warmth produced far exceeds our initial expectations. We’ve made significant advancements, creating a completely emissions-free energy system that operates year-round.”
