Ice City will build hydropower projects on the Nile

The reporter learned from the Harbin Group that Harbin Power Station Engineering Co., Ltd., which is part of the group, has officially received a letter of approval from the Sudan Kaiji Hydropower Project signed by the Sudan Electric Power Dam Dept., marking the company’s winning bid on this project. This is also the first hydropower project it developed in Sudan.

According to reports, the Kaiji Hydropower Station is located near the third largest waterfall on the Nile River, 400 kilometers downstream of the Lovi Dam in Su Denmark, and is an important power project in the lower reaches of the Nile. Harbin Power Station Engineering Co., Ltd. will undertake the design, supply, installation, commissioning and operation training of six 60 MW axial-flow converging turbine-generator sets and auxiliary engines. The total construction period is 55 months.

It is understood that the Harbin Engineering Company is mainly engaged in the general contracting and equipment complete sets of business for thermal power stations, hydropower stations and combined-cycle power plants, and has the ability to contract several large-scale power plant projects at the same time. The company enjoys a high reputation in the international market and ranked No. 102 in the “ENR Global Engineering General Contracting Companies Ranking” in 2007. At present, dozens of thermal power, hydropower and power transmission and transformation projects have been undertaken in more than 30 countries including Pakistan, Vietnam, Sudan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Iran.
