Hey everyone,
This message is coming to you from Mike Lopina, who shared some details about a fire incident he came across while he was in the area. The fire broke out at 322 North Fairfax Avenue in Romeoville. It was a single-story wooden structure measuring 25 by 35 feet on a concrete slab. Firefighters quickly mobilized two lines from Engine 21 to start their firefighting efforts.
The responding units included Engine 21, Engine 22, Engine 23, Ambulance 21, Ambulance 23, Battalion 21, and Chief 2101. Additionally, Lockport Engine and Northwest Homer Ambulance were dispatched as part of the General Alarm response. Plainfield Ambulance and Lemont Engine were also on standby in case they were needed.
Lockport Engine 3 was assigned to Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) duties, while Northwest Homer Ambulance provided rehabilitation services for the firefighters. Lockport Battalion 1 took charge of safety operations on the scene. Thankfully, all occupants had evacuated safely before the fire department arrived.
I’ve attached several photos taken by Mike Lopina that show the situation at the fire scene. You can see the intensity of the flames and the coordinated efforts of the firefighters working to control the situation. These images really capture the dedication and hard work of those involved in handling such emergencies.
