Since the outbreak of the global pandemic over a year ago, the world has undergone unprecedented changes, disrupting both personal lives and professional environments. At Autodesk, we’ve remained steadfast, navigating through constant challenges while supporting our employees, customers, and broader communities as they adapted to new realities.
I’m incredibly proud of the measures we’ve implemented to ensure continued support for everyone during these trying times. We embraced digital transformation, tailored solutions for our customers, facilitated remote learning opportunities, and focused on areas most in need. Additionally, we introduced innovative workspaces designed with health and safety in mind, ensuring our teams could stay motivated and productive.
Though the pandemic isn’t over yet, there’s hope on the horizon with widespread vaccination efforts underway. We’re optimistic about the recovery process and recognize that the post-pandemic era will bring significant shifts. It’s our responsibility to guide these transformations, especially concerning the future of our workplaces.
This vision led us to create our new Flexible Workplace model at Autodesk. Our goal is to empower our employees by offering adaptable work arrangements that align with our corporate values and prioritize safety. The model introduces three distinct categories:
1. **Office-Based Employees** will mainly operate from designated Autodesk locations but can work remotely up to 20% of the time. Certain roles, such as receptionists or security personnel, require full-time presence at the office.
2. **Hybrid Employees** will divide their time between home and nearby Autodesk offices, utilizing flexible workspaces as needed without permanent desk assignments.
3. **Home-Based Employees** typically reside too far from any office to commute regularly and will primarily work from home.
The rollout of this initiative will occur progressively across our global offices, adhering to local regulations, health metrics, and vaccination progress. While several offices in the Asia-Pacific region are already operational, others in the U.S. and elsewhere will reopen gradually over the coming months. Each reopening phase will emphasize safety and organization.
Beyond technical details, our commitment remains unwavering: fostering inclusivity among distributed teams, leveraging our strong organizational culture for hybrid collaborations, and continuously safeguarding the welfare of our global workforce.
The pandemic has underscored the importance of adaptability and teamwork. Although uncertainty persists, we’re confident that our human-centric strategy will enable everyone to adjust, grow, and maintain equilibrium while helping our clients embrace new possibilities.
