Firefighters deal with the cold weather

This message is from Eric Haak:
On Wednesday, I responded to three fires and arrived at each one late. I thought it would be a good idea to share a few photos from each incident in recognition of the brave individuals who work outside under such harsh conditions. The first image shows the still and box on the 1500 block of Kostner. It was clearly a fierce fire—the entire front of the building was covered in soot. A dog was rescued from this fire, as seen in the third photo.
The third and fourth images were taken at another still and box on the 9100 block of South Crandon. These types of structures can be especially dangerous when they catch fire, and it’s always sobering to see the damage up close.
The final image captures Engine 38 responding to their second fire of the day on the 1400 block of South Ridgeway. It's amazing how quickly these crews move and how dedicated they are to their job, even after multiple calls in a single day.

I took these photos to give a small glimpse into the challenges firefighters face every day—especially during extreme weather or large incidents. Each image tells a story of resilience, teamwork, and the dedication that keeps our communities safe.
