On May 22nd, Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. started production of a new plant with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of special esters of (meth)acrylic acid in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. In order to meet the significant growth in the demand for specialty (meth)acrylate esters for automotive coatings, Japan Catalyst decided in August 2011 to build a new plant. The new plant, with a total investment of 1 billion yen, is scheduled to be completed in September 2013 and put into commercial operation in October. After completion, the total production capacity of Japan's (meth)acrylic acid specialty esters will reach 60,000 tons.
