The Beitian and her husband and wife have set up a home for orphans and disabled children here, named "Shepherd Children's Village." This children's village has become China's rated foreign aid agency, and has adopted more than 3,000 orphans and disabled children.

"Every child in the village has disabled children. Most of them were abandoned by their parents because of defects. They were sent here." said the village head of the children's village, Be Tian Mu, and some of the children are other domestic benefits. Ba Tianmu and his wife Pam Baker decided to teach in China for one year. In 1988, the couple took their children to teach in Fushun, China for the first time. One year later, they returned to China to study for a graduate degree, and after they finished graduate school, they returned home to China and started teaching at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Since 1991, Be Tianmu and his wife have been subsidizing the Children's Welfare Institute. Every year, a batch of batches of infants and young children's products and foods are given to children's welfare homes in Tianjin, Beijing, and Shijiazhuang. In 1992, Bei Tian Mu adopted a Chinese disabled girl in Guiyang Children's Welfare Institute. In the following years, he adopted a pair of twin brothers and a boy with cleft lip and palate. Afterwards, Be Tianmu and her husband initiated the idea of ​​setting up a welfare institute and resigned from their jobs. “In the beginning, there were Chinese caring people who provided us with a venue. We established a children's village in Langfang,” says Ba Tianmu. However, as more and more children are received, they need to expand their scale. In 2002, the government of Dawang Guzhuang Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin City, gave the right to use a large area of ​​shepherd to Be Tian Mu at a symbolic price of one yuan and one mu of land, and built the present “Shepherd Children's Village”.

Now, Children's Village can accommodate more than 80 children at the same time. There are teaching buildings, dormitory buildings, guest houses, and nearly 100 full-time medical and educational workers and volunteers. “From 1996 to the present, Children's Village has performed surgical treatment for more than 3,000 disabled children and has found permanent families for more than 900 children.” Be Tianmu is very proud.

“Our fundraising has often been supported by good people,” says Ba Tianmu. The construction of the Children’s Village benefits from everyone’s “adding bricks and tiles”: a company in USA makes building planning and interior design for free, and Lafarge Group donates cement to France. Nippon Paint Company donates paint, Schneider Electric installs transformers, Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. sends diesel generators, and Langfang Heating Supply Center provides free heating to children's villages...

At the same time as raising funds, Be Tianmu encourages caring foreigners to adopt these orphans and warm their families. Almost every year, about 30 children are adopted and the beds are released. He then takes in new children.

“We have already had more than 900 children who have found permanent families and adoptive parents who are mainly from the USA.” According to Be Tianmu, most of these adopters have not been to China, but because adoption has links with China, they are all fanatically affectionate. In China, we eat Western food with chopsticks and celebrate Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. "Love is a wonderful reason," said Ba Tianmu.

For those children who have not found a permanent family and are 14 years old and can no longer be adopted, Betty Mu began building a 3,000-square-meter rehabilitation and skills center in the children’s village in 2008 to train these young people. Professional training, psychological counseling, and rehabilitation training enable them to master a skill.

"I love China and love the Chinese people. I love sheep farms and this job. I want to do everything I can to help these children and stay with them forever, until I go to heaven," says Ba Tianmu.
