Vestas' first V100 wind turbine will settle in Hubei

Following the announcement of the launch of the V100 two megawatt platform fan in China in 2011, Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer from Denmark, recently reported that the company signed the first V100 fan order in China with Datang Hubei New Energy.
For Vestas, the order has a double meaning, which marks the successful opening of Vestas China's low wind speed road and marks the company's opening of a new regional market, the Hubei market.
According to reports, the 27 units of the 48.6 MW V100 wind turbines in the contract will be installed in the Longgan Lake wind farm in Datang New Energy. The average annual wind speed of the wind farm is about 5 seconds/meter, which belongs to the ultra-low wind speed wind field. Compared with several major wind power bases in the country, the wind farm is closer to Hubei, an industrial power province, which echoes the country's “decentralized” wind power development policy.
"The low wind speed wind farm in China is a new market with great potential, but the new market also means new challenges for wind power developers, so choose a mature and reliable technology platform," said Tang Marle, president of Vestas China. And a partner with a good reputation is very important." In his view, this contract is significant, "not only opened up new markets for us, but also strengthened the pace of Vestas's low wind speed in China."
The V100 fan is a fan product developed by the company based on a mature two-megawatt product platform specifically designed for low wind speed wind farms. With the development of the global high wind speed wind farm, the low wind speed wind field has attracted the attention of global wind power developers. Since its launch, the wind turbine has quickly gained favor among customers in Europe, North America, South America, the Mediterranean and Asia. By the middle of 2011, it has achieved more than 180 installations worldwide. At present, the Vestas Tianjin plant is one of the three global production bases for the V100 two megawatt platform fan.
The order includes the delivery, transportation, installation supervision and commissioning of the turbine, as well as a Vestas online SCADA system and a two-year service and maintenance service agreement. The first batch of wind turbines is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2012.
