5 Million Sales of China into Chevrolet Market

On July 28th, the sales volume of Shanghai General Motors Chevrolet reached 1 million. General Manager Ding Lei said that “the Chevrolet brand's rapid growth in China confirms the forward-looking nature of Shanghai GM’s multi-brand, full-series strategy.”

Ding Lei said that at present, the Chinese market has become Chevrolet one of the world's most important markets. Shanghai General Motors Chevrolet products sold a total of 218951 vehicles in the first half of this year, accounting for more than 10% of Chevrolet global sales, making China the third largest market for Chevrolet after the United States and Brazil.

After more than five years of hard work, the Chevrolet brand has taken its place in mainstream segments such as cars, mid-size cars, and SUVs. So far, Le Feng Music has attracted more than 440,000 Chinese users, becoming Chevrolet's largest-selling product portfolio. In January of this year, Chevrolet launched a new sail, which sold 55,000 vehicles in just half a year. In the mid-size car market, Cruze, which went public in April 2009, has sold nearly 200,000 vehicles in less than 15 months. In mid-June of this year, the all-imported urban SUV Chevrolet Captiva went public and joined the fast-growing urban SUV market. At present, the mid-size car series has formed the main sales body of Chevrolet, accounting for nearly 60%.

Ding Lei said that the main market for Chevrolet is currently in the third and fourth tier cities. It said that Chevrolet dealership network has grown to 375, of which more than 200 came from the fastest growing three- and four-wire regional cities in the automotive market.
