In the first quarter of fiscal 2012, Denso’s net sales reached US$7.8 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 21.5%; operating losses totaled US$54.2 million; in the same period of 2010, it was operating revenue of US$875.2 million; net income was US$32 million, a year-on-year decrease of 94.4%. .

Sadahiro Usui, executive director of Denso, said that due to the March earthquake in Japan, the company’s productivity levels in April and May have been greatly reduced, and the cost has increased, eventually leading to sales declines and business losses.

Sadahiro also said that although Denso is currently in a difficult position, the company is restoring sales by reducing costs and increasing productivity.
